Lunar Eclipse
On the 25th of March at 7 am (GMT) we have the first eclipse of 2024, a Lunar eclipse in the sign of Libra:
A Lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between The Sun and The Moon, causing the Earth's shadow to fall on The Moon. This phenomenon can only happen during a Full Moon when The Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned in a straight line or very close to it. During a Lunar eclipse, The Moon can appear to take on a reddish hue due to the scattering of sunlight in The Earth's atmosphere. This effect is often referred to as a "blood moon." There are different types of Lunar eclipses, including total, partial, and penumbral eclipses, depending on how much of the Moon is obscured by the Earth's shadow.
Stargazers in Japan, the eastern half of Australia, the Americas, the western half of Africa, western Europe – and several oceans and parts of Antarctic – will see a penumbral lunar eclipse between March 24-25. However, the changes in this eclipse may not be noticeable to the naked eye. From The Mirror website.

Throughout history, Lunar eclipses, as well as Solar eclipses, have been surrounded by myths, folklore, and cultural interpretations. Here are some examples:
Mythological Beliefs: In various cultures, Lunar eclipses were often interpreted as omens or signs of impending doom. Ancient civilizations, such as the Mesopotamians, Greeks, and Chinese, believed that Lunar eclipses were caused by mythical creatures or gods devouring the Moon. For example, in Norse mythology, it was believed that the wolf Hati chased the Moon, causing a Lunar eclipse when he caught it.
Cultural Interpretations: Different cultures have their own interpretations of Lunar eclipses. In Hindu mythology, it was believed that the demon Rahu consumed the Moon during an eclipse, causing darkness, but it eventually released the Moon. Solar eclipses were also seen as inauspicious events in some cultures, leading people to take precautions such as staying indoors or refraining from eating.
Symbolism and Rituals: Some cultures viewed eclipses as a time of spiritual significance, where rituals and ceremonies were performed to ward off evil spirits or to appease the gods. In ancient Egypt, rituals were conducted during eclipses to ensure the safe return of the Sun or Moon.
Modern Interpretations: In modern times, eclipses are still seen as awe-inspiring celestial events, but the superstitions and fears surrounding them have largely diminished. Instead, they are viewed as opportunities for scientific study and public observation. Eclipse chasers travel around the world to witness these rare events first-hand.
Whether Lunar eclipses and eclipses, in general, are considered "good" or "bad" largely depends on cultural and individual beliefs. While they may have been feared or interpreted negatively in the past, they are now celebrated for their beauty and scientific significance. However, some cultural superstitions and beliefs still persist in certain communities. Ultimately, eclipses serve as reminders of the majesty and wonder of the cosmos.
In Hellenistic astrology, eclipses were seen as significant indicators of change, especially on a collective or societal level.
Sign of Change: Eclipses were viewed as powerful indicators of significant shifts or transformations, both personally and collectively. They were seen as times when hidden or subconscious matters would come to light, leading to profound realisations or changes in circumstances.
Emotional Intensity: Eclipses were associated with heightened emotions and inner turmoil. They were seen as times when emotions could be intensified, leading to catharsis or breakthroughs in emotional understanding.
Endings and Beginnings: Eclipses were often interpreted as marking the end of one phase and the beginning of another. They were seen as opportunities for closure and release, as well as for new beginnings and fresh starts.
Karmic Reckoning: Eclipses were believed to have karmic significance, indicating the culmination of past actions and the need for reconciliation or resolution. They were seen as times when individuals or societies would face the consequences of their actions.
Collective Events: Eclipses were also seen as affecting entire communities or nations rather than just individuals. They were thought to be reflective of broader social and political dynamics, often coinciding with significant events or shifts in power.
Eclipses work in cycles and this particular Lunar eclipse is part of a cycle that began with a Solar eclipse in Libra on the 25th of October and will conclude with a Solar Eclipse in Libra on October the 2nd 2024.
It’s helpful to pay attention to these cycles and to consider how they are manifesting in our lives as feelings, thoughts and experiences. This way we can track our progress through our life journey and check in on our personal growth. This is what I wrote about the October eclipse in Libra (from Instagram):
14th October 2023: Today we have a south node solar eclipse in Venus’ sign of Libra, represented by the scales.
Traditionally we’ve been afraid of eclipses. Probably because they can bring cataclysmic change that feels sudden and beyond our control, both personally and on the world stage. An about turn. I read something earlier this week about kings and how if the seat became vacant in eclipse season they’d put in a temporary (and more disposable) monarch to ride the eclipse storm, before putting in a real one some time later when the time was more favourable.
I have two things to say about it: firstly that things that seem difficult in the moment, often turn out to be a blessing further on down the line. Difficult situations don’t remain difficult. We pass through them and into something wonderful and new that wouldn’t have been possible before. And secondly, that a beyond our control change in itself isn’t always bad.
Most of us are trained to anticipate the worst. We are programmed from a lifetime of challenge and disappointment.
Is it possible to change that?
The beauty of the birth chart is that it shows us how balanced it all is. There’s light and dark, ‘good’ and ‘bad’ Gods, ‘good’ and ‘bad’ houses and palaces which are ‘good’ for some Gods and ‘bad’ for others.
It’s both good and bad and at the same time, all the same. It’s a story which, if viewed in its entirety, is beautifully balanced. ‘Good’ things happen, ‘bad’ things happen. But ultimately, especially if we can view it from the perspective that we chose these experiences for ourselves to learn and grow through, to become who we want to be, then it’s all, always, for the good.
What was happening for you last October? What’s changed or changing for you?
This Lunar eclipse in Libra reignites the themes you've been working with and gives you another opportunity to witness what's changing for you. This will depend somewhat on the house where Libra falls in your chart but will largely relate to Libran (and Venusian) themes outlined below:
Balancing Relationships: Libra is known as the sign of balance, harmony, and relationships. A Lunar eclipse in Libra may highlight themes related to partnerships, cooperation, and diplomacy. It could prompt you to assess the balance in your relationships, seeking fairness, equality, and mutual respect.
Justice and Fairness: Libra is also associated with justice and fairness. During a Lunar eclipse in Libra, there may be a heightened focus on social justice issues, legal matters, and the quest for equity. You may feel compelled to stand up for what they perceive as right and just, both in their personal lives and in the wider world.
Decision-Making and Compromise: Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love and beauty, but also of compromise and negotiation. A Lunar eclipse in Libra may bring attention to decision-making processes, especially those involving trade-offs and concessions. You may find yourself navigating situations that require finding common ground and making compromises for the sake of harmony.
Aesthetic Sensibilities: Libra is associated with aesthetic sensibilities and a love for beauty and refinement. This eclipse could inspire you to appreciate beauty in all its forms and may encourage creative expression, particularly in areas such as art, design, and fashion.
Relationship Dynamics: Since this Lunar eclipse is part of a larger eclipse cycle culminating with a Solar eclipse in Libra, there may be ongoing themes around relationships and self-expression. The lunar eclipse could serve as a point of reflection, bringing to light any imbalances or unresolved issues in relationships that need to be addressed before the culmination of the eclipse cycle with the Solar eclipse on the 2nd of October 2024.

Solar Eclipse
Today, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse is captivating skywatchers across North America. Here are some key points about this celestial event:
Path of Totality: The total solar eclipse is visible over parts of Mexico, 15 U.S. states, and eastern Canada. For the rest of the continental U.S., it will be a partial eclipse
Ideal Viewing Conditions:
Lucky viewers in northern New England, including Maine, New Hampshire, and much of Vermont, will get the absolute best view of totality.
Parts of the Plains and West could also have great conditions for views of a partial eclipse
Weather Considerations:
Communities across the U.S. have been preparing for the influx of eclipse enthusiasts. In Kerrville, Texas, they expect three to four times their population due to the eclipse.
The biggest concern for many areas is the threat of severe weather potentially casting a cloud over the event
Safety Reminder:
If you’re lucky enough to witness the eclipse, remember to use proper eye protection. Some solar eclipse glasses have been recalled due to safety concerns, so make sure yours are safe to use
Enjoy this rare cosmic spectacle! 🌑🌞
The upcoming solar eclipse has sparked various interpretations and speculations, especially among certain religious groups. Let’s delve into the details:
The Eclipse Path: On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will occur, casting a shadow across a small band of the United States. During the eclipse’s totality, the sun will be fully obstructed by the moon, allowing observers within this narrow path to view the phenomenon directly without eye protection. However, it’s essential to note that the entire continental United States will witness a partial solar eclipse, where the sun appears as if a giant bite has been taken out of it. This partial phase can be seen from a much larger area, as long as viewers wear proper eclipse glasses1.
The Nineveh Coincidence: Some online claims suggest that the eclipse’s path of totality will pass through all seven U.S. cities named Nineveh. The name “Nineveh” is associated with an ancient city in modern-day Iraq, described in the Bible as “evil.” However, upon investigation, it turns out that the path of totality only intersects with two U.S. cities named Nineveh, not seven. Eclipses do not discriminate based on city names; anyone within the path of totality can witness the event. The idea of an eclipse as a bad omen is primarily propagated by certain Christian groups, but it lacks factual basis1.
Apocalyptic Interpretations: While some people may associate celestial events like eclipses with apocalyptic scenarios, it’s essential to approach such claims with critical thinking. Eclipses are natural phenomena caused by the precise alignment of the moon and the sun. They are not omens of doom or harbingers of Armageddon. Scientifically, eclipses occur due to the moon’s shadow falling on Earth during specific alignments, and they have no inherent supernatural significance23.
In summary, the solar eclipse is a remarkable astronomical event, but it does not signal the end of the world. Instead, let’s marvel at the beauty of the cosmos and appreciate the wonders of science! 🌒🌞🌎
In Hellenistic astrology, solar eclipses were viewed as significant celestial events with both symbolic and practical implications. They were believed to have a profound influence on the affairs of nations and individuals alike.
Demetra George - excerpt
Solar eclipses were typically interpreted as potent indicators of change, often heralding major shifts or developments in the areas of life associated with the astrological houses and zodiac signs involved. Astrologers would carefully observe the position of the eclipse in relation to the natal charts of nations or individuals to discern its potential effects.
The sign and degree of the zodiac in which the eclipse occurred were considered crucial factors in determining its thematic focus and impact. Additionally, aspects formed by the eclipse to other planets and points in the astrological chart were scrutinized for further insights into its significance.
In terms of predictive astrology, solar eclipses were seen as harbingers of both challenges and opportunities. They could signify the conclusion of old chapters and the beginning of new ones, prompting individuals to re-evaluate their goals, priorities, and life paths.
Moreover, the effects of a solar eclipse were believed to unfold gradually over time, often manifesting over several months or even years. Therefore, practitioners of Hellenistic astrology would advise clients to remain vigilant and adaptable in the face of the changes indicated by the eclipse.
Overall, solar eclipses held a central place in Hellenistic astrological practice, symbolizing moments of transition and transformation that were intimately linked to the rhythms of the cosmos and the destinies of those affected by them.
Chiron in conjunct this eclipse
In Greek mythology, Chiron was a notable figure known as the "Wounded Healer" and was revered as one of the wisest and most learned of the centaurs. Unlike other centaurs, who were often depicted as rowdy and wild, Chiron was renowned for his gentleness, wisdom, and skill in healing and medicine.
Chiron was the son of the Titan Cronus (also known as Saturn) and the nymph Philyra. He was born a half-human, half-horse creature, due to Cronus disguising himself as a horse to seduce Philyra. Ashamed of his appearance, Philyra abandoned Chiron at birth, and he was subsequently raised by the god Apollo and the nymphs.
Under the tutelage of Apollo and the goddess Artemis, Chiron became a master healer, philosopher, and mentor to many legendary heroes of Greek mythology, including Achilles, Asclepius, Jason, and Hercules. He was also skilled in music, archery, and the art of prophecy.
Despite his wisdom and benevolence, Chiron's own life was marked by suffering. According to one of the most well-known myths about him, Chiron was accidentally wounded by a poisoned arrow shot by Hercules. The poison, originally intended for the centaur Nessus, was so potent that even though Chiron was immortal, he could not heal himself of the wound.
In constant agony, Chiron willingly gave up his immortality to Prometheus, who was chained to a rock as punishment for stealing fire from the gods. In exchange for his freedom, Prometheus offered to take Chiron's place and endure his suffering. Zeus, moved by Chiron's noble sacrifice, granted him a place among the stars as the constellation Centaurus.
Chiron's story symbolizes the archetype of the wounded healer, representing the profound wisdom and healing potential that can emerge from personal suffering and adversity. Despite his own pain, Chiron dedicated himself to serving and healing others, leaving a lasting legacy as a compassionate teacher and healer in Greek mythology.
In astrology, the symbolism of Chiron as the wounded healer is often associated with themes of healing, transformation, and integration of past wounds into greater wisdom and understanding. When Chiron is conjunct a significant celestial event like a solar eclipse, its archetypal significance can be amplified, offering a profound opportunity for personal growth and evolution.
The myth of Chiron's suffering and eventual transformation resonates with the energy of a solar eclipse, particularly when Chiron is conjunct the eclipse point. Here's how the myth might relate to the astrological event:
Suffering and Healing: Like Chiron, who endured the pain of his wound, individuals may find themselves confronting their own emotional or psychological wounds during this time. The solar eclipse, with Chiron nearby, can illuminate areas of unresolved pain or trauma, inviting individuals to acknowledge and address these issues for healing and transformation.
Sacrifice and Redemption: Chiron's willingness to sacrifice his immortality for the greater good is a powerful symbol of selflessness and redemption. During a solar eclipse with Chiron conjunct, individuals may be called to make sacrifices or let go of old patterns or beliefs that no longer serve their highest good. This act of surrender can pave the way for profound healing and spiritual growth.
Integration and Wholeness: Chiron's journey from woundedness to wisdom highlights the potential for integration and wholeness that can arise from facing and embracing our pain. The solar eclipse, acting as a catalyst for change, offers an opportunity to integrate the lessons learned from past experiences, leading to greater self-awareness and acceptance.
Teacher and Mentor: Just as Chiron mentored and guided many heroes in Greek mythology, the conjunction of Chiron with a solar eclipse may signify a period of profound learning and spiritual guidance. Individuals may find themselves drawn to teachers, mentors, or healing modalities that can assist them on their journey of self-discovery and growth.
Overall, the myth of Chiron serves as a powerful metaphor for the transformative potential inherent in the experience of pain and suffering. When Chiron is conjunct a solar eclipse, it signals a potent time for healing, growth, and the integration of past wounds into a greater sense of wholeness and wisdom. By embracing the lessons of Chiron's myth, individuals can navigate this astrological event with courage, compassion, and resilience.
