On Sunday the 21st of September 2025 The Sun will be partically swallowed by The Moon’s shadow at 29° Virgo. A solar eclipse. A moment when the light of The Sun, the vital force of life, is obscured. The new cycle begins not in brightness but in darkness.
Eclipses are never ordinary. They are thresholds, fated chapters in the long story of our lives. The last lunar eclipse in Pisces called us to let go. This one in Virgo asks us to begin again.

The Archetypes at Play
This eclipse falls in Virgo, the sign of the Virgin Goddess, She who tends, who sorts, who devotes Herself to the work of care and discernment. Virgo is about the holy woven into the everyday: the sweep of a floor, the pattern of breath, the order that allows life to flow. A solar eclipse here draws us into a new cycle of service, healing, and humility.
But The Sun’s light is swallowed in the shadow. Something of Virgo’s gifts cannot be grasped by effort alone. A solar eclipse is both seed and void, a beginning born in darkness. In Virgo, this means being stripped back to what is simple, essential, true.
This eclipse stands opposite Saturn, newly returned to Pisces. The God of Time presses against us from across the sky. Virgo wants clarity, order, and precision. Saturn in Pisces dissolves, obscures, and tests faith. The opposition brings a teaching: we cannot perfect our way out of limitation. We must find a balance between doing the work and surrendering what cannot be controlled.
It is also a South Node eclipse, the tail of the dragon. The South Node speaks of release, of old skins to be shed. This is an ending woven into a beginning. The Goddess asks us to let go of what no longer serves - the habits, systems, and small rituals that keep us bound - so that something cleaner, lighter, more aligned can take root.
A solar eclipse in Virgo is a whisper to return to simplicity. To strip away the excess and remember that devotion to the smallest things is how we honour the divine.
Collective Themes For This Solar Eclipse
Astrology tells us these events matter collectively as well as personally. A Virgo eclipse speaks to the collective need for discernment, for clarity, for the sacred work of separating what is useful from what is not. It reminds us that healing begins with attention to the smallest details: our habits, our systems, the ways we care for one another.
Collective tides turn at eclipses. What has been overlooked or neglected now demands tending. What we have assumed will “sort itself out” calls for practical devotion. Saturn, standing opposite in Pisces, insists on balance: not blind faith without order, and not order without faith. Both are needed if we are to carry forward what is essential.
Personal Invitation
Where Virgo falls in your chart is the place you are asked to tend, to simplify, and to bring order to what has become cluttered. It is the place where new devotion is called for, born out of letting go of what no longer serves.
If Virgo rules your fourth house, it may be the daily rhythms of family and home.
If your tenth, the work you offer to the world.
If your seventh, the patterns of care in your relationships.
Each house tells its own story. Each of us is touched. Each of us is asked to lay down old habits and begin again with clearer intention.
So what does it mean in the texture of our days? It means paying attention to the small things. The rituals that nourish. The systems that quietly hold us. It may mean the end of routines that no longer support who we are becoming. It may feel like release, but a release that clears the ground so that something healthier, lighter, more true can take root.
Ritual and Practice
The Gods remind us: endings and beginnings are not separate. At a solar eclipse, The Sun’s light is swallowed and then reborn. Darkness falls, only for illumination to return. Each eclipse is both loss and renewal.
In Virgo, this eclipse is an invitation to clear the ground. To choose, with care, what you are ready to leave in the past and what you wish to carry forward with you. The Goddess sorts wheat from chaff. She asks us to notice the difference between what is useful and what is simply noise.
Perhaps the only task is to be present. To feel what comes. To notice what leaves. To honour what cannot continue. And to trust that life itself is carrying you where you need to go.
Simple ways to mark the moment:
Light a candle and name the habits or patterns you are ready to release.
Pour water onto the earth, asking it to carry your prayers and cleanse the ground for new growth.
Write down what you are leaving behind, then bless those words before letting them go.
Begin one small, intentional practice of devotion, something humble and daily, to anchor the new cycle.

✨ An Invitation
Eclipses are never just about one day. They are part of larger cycles - 18 months of unfolding across an axis of your chart, and echoes of cycles that began 18–19 years ago. They mark the turning points in our stories, the moments when fate takes the reins.
It can feel unsettling. There is the sense that something bigger than us is moving the pieces. Astrology doesn’t cancel that truth, but it does help us meet it differently. It shows us where the cycles are landing in our lives. It gives language to what is shifting. It helps us see that even the most unexpected turns are part of a larger pattern, one that carries meaning and purpose.
Astrology can’t stop change. But it can help you trust the process. It can show you what part of your life is being reshaped, and how to meet it with more awareness, grace, and courage.
If you’d like to explore how this eclipse cycle is moving through your chart and look at what chapter is closing, what new direction is opening, I’d love to hold that space with you.
