The Time is (K)now

As the wheel of the year turns we enter a liminal space where time stands still. We are in between the old of 2025 and before the new of 2026. Here in the Northern Hemisphere darkness prevails and so we brighten it with light we forge ourselves, with twinkling fairy lights and colourful decorations, with fridges full of treats and the company of those we love the most. We are invited at this time to pause, and reflect, on what has been and what is to come. But more importantly we are reminded to be where we are and enJOY who we're with.
Take a moment. You are exactly where you're supposed to be.

We have just passed through the longest night of the solstice, when The Sun enters Capricorn on the darkest night and the light begins its slow return. This year, in a rare turn of events, we are also in the dark of the New Moon, the pause in the cycle where The Moon retreats, She dies, and is reborn. Beginning a new cycle, weaving a new story, and showing us that we are always given the opportunity to do the same. It is the time to lay what's been to rest, to give thanks for the experiences we have had (the 'good', and 'the bad'), and clear a space for the new to arrive. We don't know exactly what is coming. We can set our intents. But the future will always surprise us. And would we want it any other way?
Astrology shows us the shape of what's to come, the flavour of what is heading our way. The Gods in our heavens are a reflection of what is transpiring here on Earth. So if we know where They are, and who They are conversing with, we can have an idea of the experiences we could have, experiences that mirror Theirs.
As above, so below.
So what's occurring above, as we speak? And how might that translate?
Remember: we are all unique, we all have a precise blueprint (our birth chart shows us who we are and the grand archetypes we hold within), and so how things transpire for us, will be unique for us. The conversations The Gods are having will mirror our own in a way that is specific to us depending on how They are interacting with our own individuality. To understand what's happening for us, we need to know ourselves. And that, in my humble opinion, is the key to unlocking our potential here on Earth. Our birth chart can tell us all about ourselves and the experiences we have had, and will have. If you have yet to get to know yours I can assist with a reading - book in online with me here.
The Current Quality of Time
Here's what matters: you don't need to understand every planetary movement to feel the shift that's occurring. A part of you already knows. Perhaps you've felt the weight of things coming to completion, or sensed something stirring just beneath the surface, waiting. The restlessness. The readiness. The quiet knowing that change is close. The real gift astrology offers us isn't prediction, it's permission. Permission to trust what we're already feeling. Permission to see that our personal struggles and victories aren't happening in isolation, but are part of something far grander. When we understand the larger patterns moving through the heavens, we can stop fighting against the current and start working with it. We can recognise that the challenge we're facing isn't a mistake or a punishment, but an invitation to grow in a very specific way.
The Gods in the sky are mirrors, and what They show us is this: you are not separate from what's unfolding. You are woven into it, part of the grand design. So when you read what follows don't just take it as information. Let it be confirmation of what you already sense is true for you.

The Sun has just entered Capricorn, the sign of the Seagoat, ruled by Saturn, The Father of the zodiac. When I talk about Capricorn I always reference the mountain because Capricorn is where we strive to climb, to build, to achieve, to do. Mars loves it here for that reason. Capricorn pushes us to grow, to do better, to be better. And that takes work. Discipline. Strength. Resilience. Just like climbing the mountain we have to take it step by step. Sometimes we'll be blind, the fog will roll in and we'll lose sight of what we're doing and where we're going. We'll get tired. And feelings of despondency will creep in. Why does it always have to be so hard? Why are there always barriers to what I want? A storm. A sheer cliff face. Sometimes we'll be forced to stop. Step back. Find another way. But Capricorn, just like the mountain, always holds the promise. That eventually, if we keep putting one step in front of the other, if we keep pushing forwards despite the challenges, despite the time and energy it's cost us, we will make it to the top. We will clear the fog. We will stand atop and marvel at the view.
Doesn't this seem like the perfect energy at hand for the time we are in? We are always at the top of a mountain. We can always pause and look back at where we've been, at how far we've come, at what we've achieved. And from there we can look forward to our next climb, the next mountain, and plan what we want to do and how we might envision getting there. But what's always important is that we don't lose sight of now. Now is where it's at. And that's our Sun. Always shining no matter where we are on the mountain. Hidden in a cave sheltering from the storm, or above the clouds in His full majesty.
So take your moment. Pause. Reflect. Give yourself a pat on the back for all that you have become. For everything you have achieved. And take some time to enjoy it. It's Christmas after all.
So what of the other Gods? Where are They and how are They in support (or not) in this moment?
We'll start with Saturn since He is hosting The Sun, and Mars, and The Moon for a few more days. Saturn is now walking slowly forwards in Pisces, heading back towards Neptune, after returning here for the final time in His 30ish year cycle. Saturn is closing out a story that He has been writing in Pisces over the last 2 and a half ish years. A story that tells of the paradox between spiritual enlightenment and material reality. Saturn is the limit, The God that sits on the boundary of what we can see with our naked eye, and what lies beyond. Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac. Pisces is where we remember that we are both a human, being on Earth in a body and a spirit, One with the collective consciousness from which we were born and to which we will return when our stay on Earth is complete. Saturn here teaches us that while what we do here matters and as such we should spend our time wisely and in pursuit of greatness (whatever that means for us personally), we shouldn't take it all too seriously since at the end of the day, life is but a moment in a much larger story arc which is beyond our comprehension to understand and realise. What we do matters, and also doesn't. How seriously we take it is up to us to decide.
Neptune is also finishing a much longer cycle around the wheel with a final stay in Pisces ending on the 27th of January. Neptune will then enter Aries, and won't return to this zone of the heavens till January 2176. Neptune:
speaks of oneness: you were never separate
teaches compassion: for yourself, for others, for the human condition
reminds you of the power of imagination, vision, and faith
invites you to surrender
dissolves what no longer serves, and shows you what love really is
And when Neptune is in Pisces, the sign where we remember that we are One with all that is, this energy is amplified. We are invited to know the truth:
We are spiritual beings having a human experience. We were never separate. We are never alone. We come from love, and we will return to love when our time here is up.
Neptune isn't the only God in the catharsis of ending before beginning anew. Uranus is also in a return, having walked backwards into Taurus to finish off a 7 year story being woven in Venus' earthly domain. Uranus, The Sky God, our God of Change, will stand still on the 3rd of February and then walk back into Gemini on the 26th of April. Uranus in Taurus is shaking the foundations of everything we thought was solid. Uranus is the awakener, the revolutionary, the lightning bolt that cracks open what has calcified. Taurus is the earth beneath our feet, our values, our resources, our bodies, our relationship with the material world.
This is a transit of profound tension - the God of sudden change colliding with the sign that craves stability and slowness. Uranus here is asking us to reimagine what we truly value: our money systems, our relationship with the earth, the sanctity of the body, and what it means to feel secure in an uncertain world. Old structures are crumbling - financial systems, the way we relate to nature, the false comforts we've clung to - and something new is trying to be born from the soil. This is the earthquake in the garden, the ground moving beneath us so we learn to find our footing in what's real and true within rather than what we think we can control and build without. The next few months bring and end to Uranus' work in Taurus and things may feel more shaky, before they steady again. The house Taurus sits in in your birth chart will be one to watch over the next few months (see below for an overview by rising sign of where all these changes are taking place).
Pluto is currently walking forward in Aquarius after turning retrograde at 3 degrees and 49 minutes in May 2025. Pluto, God of Transformation, will tread new ground from February 5th. Read all about Pluto in Aquarius here.
Jupiter is still walking backwards in Cancer, the sign of family, of nurture, and of home. Jupiter spends about a year in every sign and we are in the revision stage of His journey. Jupiter will turn direct on the 12th of March and will leave Cancer and enter Leo on the 30th of June. Jupiter is His best self in Cancer and He brings luck, expansion and benevolence (read more on this here). While backwards His impact is more subtle. Expansion will happen within before it becomes obvious in our world.
What of our personal planets? What are they up to at the moment?
Venus and Mercury will join an exalted Mars in Capricorn in the next week - Venus on Christmas Eve and Mercury on New Year's Day. But the real story here is what happens on the 7th of January, when both Venus and Mars are reborn through the heart of The Sun, cazimi, at the exact same moment. This is rare. Mars and Venus - our divine masculine and feminine, our action and our love, our will and our values - beginning a brand new solar cycle together, united in Capricorn, the sign of mastery and long-term vision. They're writing a new story, side by side, with the same intention.

What does this mean for us, down here on Earth? It's an invitation to bring these energies into harmony within ourselves. Mars is our desire, our drive, the part of us that knows when to act and what needs to be done. Venus is what we love, what we value, what brings us pleasure and connection. When they're working together rather than at odds, we can move through the world with both strength and grace - building what matters without sacrificing beauty, pursuing our goals without losing touch with love. This transit has the potential to transform how we show up in our relationships, especially the one we have with ourselves. It asks: can your ambition and your heart walk the same path? Can you act from a place of love, and love what you're building? The answer, if we're willing to do the work, is yes.
And then Mercury enters the scene. Mercury meets Mars in Capricorn on the 18th of January before moving into Aquarius, to also be reborn through the heart of The Sun on the 21st at 1 degree - the very beginning of the sign. Mercury is the mind, mental clarity, the messenger who makes sense of what's been born. If Mars and Venus united our will and our heart, Mercury gives that union a voice and a vision. Aquarius is the future-thinking sign of Saturn, the sign that dreams of what's possible when we work together, when community becomes the foundation. Where Capricorn builds the structures from the top down, Aquarius envisions the Eden we can create from the ground up - born from the people, for the people. Mercury here helps us articulate the dream. The vision takes practical shape. We can communicate what Mars and Venus have birthed, translate desire and love into ideas that can be shared, understood, and built upon together. The mind catches up to the heart, and the future begins to speak.
As within, so without.
So what does all this mean for you, standing here at the threshold between years, between cycles, between who you were and who you're becoming?
It means this: the work is both cosmic and deeply personal. The Gods are showing us the patterns, the possibilities, the grand design, but it's your mountain to climb. Your relationships to harmonise. Your vision to articulate. Your foundations to rebuild. The Gods don't do the work for us. They simply illuminate the path and remind us we're not walking it alone.
This is a time of profound endings and equally profound beginnings. Saturn and Neptune finishing their cycles. Uranus shaking the last of what needs to fall away. Mars and Venus reborn together, united in purpose. These are invitations. To release what no longer serves. To align your will with your heart. To build something real and lasting from a place of truth rather than fear.
Your world is a reflection of you. You are The Universe experiencing itself.
What's transpiring in your world is much easier to navigate if you can understand how it fits into the bigger picture and when you can see the wisdom - the meaning and purpose - woven through it. Your birth chart can reveal to you your bigger picture and can show you the meaning and purpose intrinsic within the stories you are walking. With more understanding of yourself you can walk your path with more intention and more joy. A conversation with The Gods can bring more grace to your lived experience.

Here's the truth we often forget in our rush to reach the summit: the pleasure isn't in the arrival. It's in the journey itself. Life isn't a series of grand achievements punctuated by waiting - it's a series of small, mundane moments punctuated by the occasional triumph. The morning cup of tea. The conversation that makes you laugh. The quiet satisfaction of a task completed. The way the light falls through the window at 3pm. These moments are the life. These moments are what we're here for. The view from the mountaintop is glorious, yes, but it's fleeting. What sustains us is the climb - every step, every breath, every stumble and recovery. We are here to embrace it all. To find the sacred in the ordinary. To be present for the life we're actually living, not the one we think we should be living or the one we're waiting to arrive at.
"As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul." - Hermes Trismegistus, The Kybalion
I wish you all the best for the new year ahead!
with love, Jenny x
